I just called my Washington Representative and told his aide, "It"s time to GET REAL"

The proposals are ridiculous and will dump healthcare onto States!

They ALL are already in trouble and the TAXPAYER will get hit harder for the cost of ambulance rides and hospital care costs for those who can NOT afford AFC now, never mind the more expensive Trumpcare proposal!

Please call your Rep & tell him/her to get on with the TRUTH that A PUBLIC OPTION for SINGLE Payer MEDICARE should be available  immediately for people who are sacraficing greatly (nevermind "buying i-phones") NOW.....for beggining repair of "Obamacare"!

REPAIR NOT REPEAL

Here's what Trumpcare is all about from KOS:

Here's a short reminder of what the plan would do:

  • Kill the Medicaid expansion, one of Obamacare's most popular and successful ways to expand healthcare coverage
  • Defund Planned Parenthood, a critical provider of women's health care coverage
  • And end healthcare subsidies in favor of tax breaks that will make it harder for elderly Americans to afford coverage

This is not a serious health care plan, and it falls far short Donald Trump's claim that any replacement would "get insurance for everybody."

Further, a STATE plan is ALSO, as a federal plan, A GOVERNMENT Health plan after all, and I dearly love MEDICARE (for which I paid), all my working life and now, monthly.

Yes, the republican effort at repeal and replace is a joke.  They had years to get their $@# together.  They get the WH and both houses and they have no plan.  After YEARS!!

Example of the primary reason I left the republican party.  Incompetence, both substantively and politically incompetent.

ACA is a big gov't grab to ensnare more of the public into the public welfare state. No question,  But FIX it.  There are some good provisions in it.  It was just too big and tried to do too much too fast,.

You all know where I am politically.  We need to institute government baseline coverage,  ie Medicare for everyone, that covers VERY basic health coverage,  catastrophic coverage if you will.  Yes, single payer taxpayer funded, EVERYONE who is a citizen get s a little healthcare card and you're covered.  BASIC, limited coverage for every citizen,  THEN, you can purchase supplemental coverage.  Whatever you want.  BUT this supplemental is NOT taxpayer funded or subsidized in any way.  If you want more, you pay for it,

And this is all paid for via a VAT tax.  5% or whatever.  That way EVERYONE pays, and everyone is covered,  And no tax credits for the VAT.  EVERYONE PAYS.

Jr2007sc,

I'm so glad to hear you are on the same page with Medicare for ALL, which happens to be a very cost and efficient, affordable healthcare plan by OUR GOVERNMENT, OURS........ which WE democratically CHOSE currently (because the majority of "WE the people" chose NOT to vote......), unfortunately.

Yes, I expect to pay for it, as well as everything else I chose ALL MY LIFE, because I had the good fortune of good health, a logical brain & incentive to remain independant all these years.

So, here's the plan:

Just a bit about the huffpost article BUT please read it all......

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/we-must-demand-medicare-for-all_us_58c6b690e4b0c3276fb78758

By now, it should be clear that neither the Republicans nor the Democrats care at all about you. The GOP (Greedy Old Party) has always been known to be the enemy of the regular Joe, but we had been deluded into thinking the Democrats were the Party of the People. Wrong. If you are not among the super-wealthy, they want to kill you.

Republicare, (or what some are calling DonTCare), the proposed program to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA, or Obamacare), is essentially a gift to the insurance and pharmaceutical industries; and it’s about to kill an estimated 44,000 people a year. Nearly 30 million Americans will lose their coverage by 2019 if the ACA is repealed.

So readers, call your congressmen and remind them WE ARE the GOVERNMENT and do NOT want to lose ALL our assets, as well as watching our States go bankrupt along with U.S. to stay alive to keep the thieving Health Insurance & pharmeceutical  companies Rich at OUR expense!

My doctor just told my son that The UNAMERICAN Healthcare Plan will cost those of U.S. in the mid 50's to 65, about $17.000 annually and a huge increase to Medicare to boot.

And while we're on this topic, EVERYONE should pay something in Federal taxes.  Everyone, without exception. You want universal coverage, then there should be universal contribution.

Magi, you and I can agree on this, but ONLY if every single adult American pays their taxes without exception.

I want to go from almost 50% of Americans not paying any Federal taxes to 0%. Regardless of income.

Are ya with me?

Really interested if anyone else here agrees, on the 0% of Americans not paying Federal income tax.

I can't wait to hear the responses.  Surprise me people.

Oh, and while I'm on the topic of socializing basic public services, how about that bastion of pure American socialism , public education?

You want better funding of public schools?  End how they're funded now. VAT.  End the funding of local public schools through real estate taxes. Impose a local VAT.

Make EVERYONE fund the public schools.  Why should some citizens pay for all, and some not pay at all?

You want universal public education for all, then all should pay.

Magi, I read the article.  I appreciate your enthusiasm.  But the author of the article is a moron.  Or a shameless propagandist.  Holy crap.  I have a hard time believing the article wasn't written by a 14 year old. Is the author serious?  Does she actually believe the fantasies she's writing about?

Uh, yeah.  We can afford anything because the government just makes money at its leisure.  I can't figure if she's a dingbat, or a liar.

And what I propose is just simple, low level catastrophic baseline coverage.  Nothing more.

Please Magi, don't tell me you believe the drivel in the Huff article.

Here's the House Bill, HR676:

http://www.medicareforall.org/pages/HR676

"

H.R. 676 Summary

United States House of Representatives Bill Number 676 is the proposed U.S. legislation to establish single-payer health care, improved Medicare for All, in the United States. It will establish lifelong health care: cradle to grave, womb to the tomb. The coverage will be complete; some people like to call that “comprehensive.” Every other free-market high-income country in the world automatically provides health care for its people with a largely or exclusively non-profit method of financing the health care. The best non-profit method is called “single-payer” because it is the simplest and most efficient. The specific funding details need to be established, such as the method(s) proposed in H.R. 676. What matters is not so much how we pay for it, since the costs will be dramatically lower, but what we will pay for:
— We will no longer be paying for a system that wastes $400 billion in excessive administrative costs.
— Much more of our health care dollars will be spent on health care.
— More of the doctors and nurses time will be spent on caring for people.
— The result will be more time spent on prevention and wellness and the U.S. dramatically raising its life expectancy, which is a dismal 30th in the world, having dropped from 28th to 30th in June 2008. "

Medicare for all. Please call your Representative and tell her/him your feelings because it is past time to let the Insurance and pharmecuetical companies steal our hard earned money.

And  jr., I pay NO attention to "fake news". I study and consider ALL news and decide for myself what is REAL.

Looks like Donald may have no better luck with legislation than he's had with executive orders. How effective can bullying tactics be when they're coming from a man who continues to make himself a joke to the world and an embarrassment to America?
